Rules and conditions

  1. Only dogs are permitted to attend the event and compete in the Paws for Pride Puppy Pageant (we don’t mean to be species-ist…. we just want to ensure the safety of your feline, feathered or pocket pets).
  2. The dog’s handler must be over 18 years of age and must provide direct supervision of the dog and any children handlers. Limit of two dogs per adult handler.
  3. Your dog must be on leash at all times. Chains, pinch collars and rope tethers are unacceptable restraints and handlers using these devices will not be allowed to enter the competition.
  4. All dogs MUST be controllable by their handler at all times. If Queerswich officials believe that the handler does not have proper control of the animal before or during the parade, the animal will be withdrawn from the competition and you will be asked to leave the event.
  5. Dogs should be up to date on appropriate vaccines to protect the health and safety of their own pets and other participants. It is strongly advised that puppies, who have not already received their full regimen of puppy vaccinations, do not attend the event.
  6. Restricted dog breeds, and their crosses, are prohibited e.g. Pit Bull Terriers, Dogo Argentino, Japanese Tosa.
  7. Dogs that have been declared a Dangerous or Menacing Dog by an authorised council officer or local court, are prohibited.
  8. Females in heat are prohibited.
  9. Handlers must dispose of their dogs’ waste before, during and after the event. Make sure to bring your own waste bags.
  10. Watering stations will be available, however, keeping your dog adequately hydrated is the handler’s responsibility.
  11. No aggressive dogs will be permitted. If such behaviour is displayed, the dog and their handler will be asked to leave the event.
  12. Dogs should be sociable with other animals, adults and children and should not be aggressive or protective about food, toys, adults, children or other pets. Pets and their handlers should expect loud noises, music and crowds. Please be sensible… if your little buddy is anxious around people or sensitive to loud noise, please leave them at home.
  13. Dogs and their handlers are encouraged to dress in celebration of PRIDE.
  14. Entries and attire must not be obscene or offensive towards an individual or group.
  15. Judges’ decisions are final.
  16. Handlers/dog owners are liable and completely accountable for any injury or damage caused by their pet.
